The Centre plans to establish <strong>a central storage facility for institutional radioactive waste (IRW)<\/strong>, and <strong>a long-term storage facility for low and intermediate level radioactive waste (LILW) from the Kr\u0161ko Nuclear Power Plant<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Centre will store low and intermediate level radioactive waste. <strong>Spent nuclear fuel (SNF) will not be stored in the Centre<\/strong>, because the disposal of SNF requires different storage methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pursuant to the Radiological and Nuclear Safety Act (official gazette \u201cNarodne novine\u201d, no. <a href=\"https:\/\/narodne-novine.nn.hr\/clanci\/sluzbeni\/2013_11_141_3012.html\">141\/13<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/narodne-novine.nn.hr\/clanci\/sluzbeni\/2015_04_39_803.html\">39\/15<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/narodne-novine.nn.hr\/clanci\/sluzbeni\/2017_12_130_2988.html\">130\/17<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/narodne-novine.nn.hr\/clanci\/sluzbeni\/2018_12_118_2352.html\">118\/18<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/narodne-novine.nn.hr\/clanci\/sluzbeni\/2022_02_21_226.html\">21\/22<\/a>), the Fund for financing the decommissioning of the Kr\u0161ko NPP (the Fund) is required to establish the RW Management Centre in Croatia and manage it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can read everything you are interested in about the Centre on the Centre's website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\" style=\"margin-top:20px;margin-bottom:20px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/czrao.hr\/\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"601\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fond-nek.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/czrao-web-1024x601.webp\" alt=\"Podijeljena slika s zelenim \u0161umskim krajolikom s lijeve strane i modernim skladi\u0161tem s kamionom s desne strane.
